La Shell Kelly is a licensed cosmetologist, master loctician, educator, and entrepreneur with over a decade of hands-on experience in the beauty industry. She earned her cosmetology degree from Capri College in Davenport, Iowa, and has been professionally licensed since 2010. Her passion for hair began at a young age and naturally evolved into a lifelong commitment to mastering the art, science, and cultural significance of hair.
La Shell began her career working with natural hair, cuts, color, and weaving, perms, and officially incorporated loc services into her practice in 2010. Over the years, she has become a respected master loctician, known for her precision, technique, and deep understanding of loc health, maintenance, and longevity. Her work blends technical excellence with cultural respect, intention, and professionalism.
She is the owner of Chiseled 2 Perfection Spa & Beauty, a brand she founded in 2020. Throughout her career, La Shell has owned and operated multiple businesses, gaining extensive real-world experience in business operations, client care, branding, and sustainability. In addition to her cosmetology background, she holds a degree in business, allowing her to teach not only loc artistry but how to build and maintain a profitable, ethical beauty business.
As the founder of the Kelly Foundation for Arts & Education, La Shell created the Academy of Loc Artistry to fill a critical gap in structured, professional loc education. The Academy was designed to provide hands-on training, cultural education, and real-world preparation for aspiring locticians who want more than informal learning. Her mission is to elevate loc artistry, empower students with both skill and confidence, and create pathways to long-term success within the beauty industry.
